Hi guys,

Haven't shot any pictures for a while. So here's a quick grab shot taken at Qian Hu Fish Farm last Saturday. Silver Hatchetfish

Pardon the dirty tank and background.

Cheers,

Hmm..

Shot with EF 100 mm f2.8 macro and using 1 flash from above. Slightly angled. Shutter speed at 1/250 seconds and aperture at f20. No tripod. That's pretty much about it.

If you are using a LCD screen and it's not calibrated, the background may appear black to you. View it from the side and you will see specks in the background. Uneven due to sedimentation. Fish Farm don't really maintain their tanks.

Cheers,

is it the same lense you used to take all the macro shots in the "macro" section?

and the flash... angle against the front glass or from above the tank?

i feel that if i put my speedlights all above the tank, it will give a very nice cool ambient lighting type of colouration...

if i put the speedlights at any angle from the fron or sides, it will look like a strong flash with an over kill

have been reading, and have been trying out more than just reading

fish photography is a real challenge to me now... infact, photography is so fun! can explore the limits one by one... hehehe
