Pee Pee works!!!

just a word of caution to all bros!!

Just now i was cleaning the filter with my BARE HANDS and using a pail to squeeze out the dirt. then find my hand very numb!!! i inspect my hands under strong lite and saw very fine needle sticking all over.

Here's my course of action
1- tap water(cooling but no cure)
2- vinegar (no efffect)
3- URINE*mine of course!! (immediate relief)
4- then i scrub off using dishwash soap and the green sponge

I always use clinic gloves to handle live rocks but just now feeling was extreme!!!

Never use hot/ice water to wash cos it'l worsen everything.

Those needles that you saw are most likely spikes from bristleworms or fireworms. They are very irritating as they leave invisible spikes on the rocks that will definitely prick you.

Another good option would be to brush the affected area over your hair very gently or use a piece of tissue paper to brush the area gently. I don't know about the tissue method but the hair method definitely works as i've tried it before and found that it removes the spikes.

Nope, not that i experienced any of the spines going into my scalp, probably due to the lack of flesh in that area. What i meant was gently brush over the tip of your hair in case there was a misunderstanding here.

I didn't experience any numbness, but very little swelling and sharp pain was experienced. Could be a different reaction of your body to the foreign object invading, if your concerned i would advise visiting a doctor to put your mind at ease.
