For me, I am always bothered by it if it's working properly or not. Anyway you have a nice setup, very similar to mine. enjoyed your pictures. So this prefilter, is it useful? |

my chiller kick in and kick out for around 15min from 25degree to 24degree. the prefilter is useful for me as I only need to open it for maintenance and not disturb the ehiem canister as it is filled with bio-home. ( lazy also to open ehiem and remove each compartment to change the filter.) |

Like the prefilter idea, but will this slow down the flow rate? |

IMO judging from the time it takes to lower 1 degree of temperature for the chiller i think its ok ba. From your manual of your Hailea chiller, you check the performance graph. This is how I judge, from the curve it takes estimate 1hr to cool down 160L from 25degree to 24 degree. My tank is around 54L, so relevantly it will take around 20mins to cool from 25degree to 24degree. Now my chiller is only taking 15mins to do that so I think the flow is still ok. For flow rate, it is mainly judge by the pump outlet to the tank. Means anything blocking, too high the tank from the pump, to many twist n turn in the hoses. For prefilter it won't affect too much unless there is no water coming in, too little water come in equal no water go out. So the filter also cannot be choke. Why I have the prefilter is becos for our 2213-2217 series the mechanical filtration is put at the bottom. Hence to always clean the filter will need to remove everything. |

My hs 28a running with eheim 2224 kicks in about roughly 8 minutes to chill down to 24degree, then it will rest for about 30mins and start up again. Any idea if its okay?
