Anyone in his shoe would do something similar as Money means little to him now. It is his legacy that counts.

It is at least better than nothing coming from him. But honestly if i compare his peers of his stature, he pale's in comparison. Big man should have a even bigger heart.

Can you imagine one-day your big CEO gives you an ang bao, you are happy that he at least gives you an ang bao even the ang bao is $2 and company paid.

HK & Taiwan, can have Cantonese/Hokkien shows on TV/radio etc, but still their education levels are still very high.

Dialects had been removed from the media. Did the chinese language level improved? If it has improved, then why the need to improve bilingualism now?

So, he kind of saying his "jiang hua yu" campiagn (spell) failed?

S$10mil + $2mil from him only... He could hv done better than that.. but than money means a lot to them thus they paid themselves handsomely/extorbitantly with tax payers money.

Wait... ur passage is very confusing, i catch no horse. You mean, S11 is owned by LKY? Or what? You quoted the line on, $2mil from sale of his own book, which seems to suggest S11 is also owned by him.
