Nearly cooked my aro, pls advise
He was not well so I was treating him for ick and fungus past 2 days which seemed to clear. However I had set my eheim heater to between 30-31 degrees. Just about an hour ago I saw him swimming up and down franticly and when I put my hand in the water to check it was not hot but it was pretty warm. He had even vomited out the prawns which I feed him with regularly and the prawn looked cooked.
I quickly removed the stupid heater, I opened up the whole top cover to let the warm air out and threw in lots of ice. He was breathing pretty heavy, lost a scale from trying to jump out probably. However temps dropped quickly and he seems perfectly fine now. Physically he looks ok, swimming ok. My only worry would he be having any internal damage? |

The fins may rot if injured.
Stop feeding for 2 weeks. Partial wc alternate days. Monitor water parameters. Will be ok.

Just checked on him again, seems perfectly fine swimming up and down. I'll do a partial wc tomorrow and add some salt. i just hope his internal organs are not damaged.

bro, honest I would stop feeding the aro first and continue monitor water parameters in the tank. allow the aro settle in first whenever if I use the heater thing in tank, just make sure full aeration or even added aeration just in case. |

Thanks. I won't be feeding for awhile. Also will check my heater for calibration or perhaps just buy a new one.

Even if externally no injury or disease, inside organs we won't know.
