Default Fry killing each other. Please advise

Hi, I recently had my first spawn of betta. They are about 2cm now.
I didn't have any casualties until about a week ago, I find 2-3 fry dying everyday due to fighting. I observe that the fry are chasing each other quite often, particularly the larger ones.
There were about 60 fry earlier, but probably left with 40 now in a 2 ft tank.
They are fed with boon daily.
I suspected it was either the boon or water quality, however the fry were all fine until recently when fighting began.

Is the space big enough? If not u will need to change them to bigger area. U can put in water plants to lessen the fighting too.

2cm fries should not start killing one another, i think the rate of dead fish is probally due to water quality, your tank size 2ft should be ok to host these 40 fries now.

Its your water quality that is affecting the mortality of your fishes.

I have been changing the water every 2 day since free swimming.
Might it be because I'm not using any air pump ?

Oh.. I would not have changed water so often for young fries. my fries will stay in their current water condition till about 3-4 weeks old.

I use a standard 2 feet tank and fill water for breeding to about half the tank. The larger amount of water will help to maintain the water condition better.

Slowly top up water everyday also can. It's normal for some fries to die. Usually those that die are the weaker ones. You can try separating them into two tanks. It will gives them more space, less competition for food and most importantly help them grow faster. If you want to use an air pump attach it to a sponge filter, use a valve to make the bubbling slower. Clean your sponge filter every week.
