Difference btn FL and PL?
Hi all..as stated in title:
What's the difference between FL and PL lightings? What do they stand for? I'm assuming FL stands for fluorescent light? What about PL? How do they affect the tank, in terms of flora and fauna? *Sorry if this is a basic question..i've tried researching but always come to zilch w regards to PL...i'm still new to this (currently attempting to do planted tank), and hopefully can pick up some pointers from the shifus here* |

Some thought that PL lights stand for Philips lights, but nobody can agree on a standard.
Anyway if you ask me, on the overall aspects they are different in terms of their usage in our tanks. FLs are long so they can cover width effectively. Also they tend to be cooler. PL on the other hand can concentrate alot of wattage in a small form factor, though this will mean that they run hotter. There's no one better than the other, it depends on what you need. |

pll are hotter, but they provide you with a greater intensity thus penetrating deeper depth. depends on what you need them for as stated above. why not find out bout t5 too? have not personally use them but a lot of positive feedback on them for planted. do not know if they are suitable for deeper tanks though eg 2ft etc.
cheers! |
