With regards to your yellow tang, you can try to look into water parameters(pH,nitrates in particular) or stress from tankmates. These are likely causes of it to display the white stripe.

Does it happen all the time or only at night? I kept a yellow tang before some years back, if i didn't remember wrongly, at night after lights out it would change and display that white stripe.

Good setup. seem like u're hving red slime algae,
check yr water parameters, do wc, and increase yr water movement,
may help to reduce those problems.

hi hiie my marine tank was set up not by..i only did the aquascaping .My LFS guy set it up for me....all the piping was done by him...is the slime algae harmful to the fish

Slime algae will not harm the fish but is very unsightly. It has the potential to overrun the tank. You can look into using the product "Red Slime Remover" to combat it.

it is not harmful to the fish, but it is an indicator that your water params are less than perfect. that affects the fish.
unless your LFS guy also regularly services and maintains your tank, you have to do it yourself.

yes he does do maintenence,for now he says that the tank haven matured enough to clean it
