PL lights Questions???

I have some questions regarding pl lights can all bros pls help:
1) does pl lights DEFINITELY require a e ballast to work?
2) whats the price of e ballast and pl tubes (55 w)?
3) where to get cheap e ballast and around what price?
4) whats the normal price of 55w pl light set price? (wana compare see if diy cheaper alot)

2) eballast i bought @$16 tube@$9

does PL lights require a E Ballast or juz normal Ballast???

normal Ballast will do. But E-Ballast produce less heat.

i came across 1 type of light, PL-L, very thin which i dont see any ballast . just plug in the cable and it'll lite up. i'm not sure what kinda light is called, it's thinner than PL light.

standard 2ft is 22W. it comes in a set. a light holder + cable. i dont see any ballast. or even if hv, it'd be very tiny and small which can hide inside the casing.
