Very sad. Be strong and don't give up on the hobby.

I was recently in Hong Kong for two weeks recently and had to rely on my helper to help me change water and took care of my discus and aro comm tank. Although I trained my helper since she worked with me to change water as I travel quite a bit, I would always whatsapp back to check on the fishes whenever I can.

It is really an unfortunate incident. Wish you the best.

My condolences bro, you will come back stronger into the hobby again. I do travel quite abit at times and have invested in acdc air pump connected to sponge filter inside just in case. Also you can consider seneye monitor for remote water param notification. Dont feed is good even for two weeks but if its a comm abit hard later all fight. Can pack servings of frozen mp and ask helper to feed alternate days.

Water change no need bah for two weeks.. Just throw in two packs of activated carbon or chemipure, etc

And lastly topping up of water if its a sump

Sorry to hear your sad news, we know how you feel and understand your pain.
But i can only upz you by saying dun easily give up, look on the bright side and you can start again from fresh. Just treat this as a good lesson learned and your lovely children are not to be blame. Learn from mistake and you will become stronger with wider knowledge and experience.

All the best and good luck.

My Condolence bro !

For those that rely maid , wife , kids to do feeding when oversea . Best is to tape up the on/off switch for the pump/filter . ( Best is use masking tape and mark a cross ) Let them know verbally not to off the switch too .

Happen to me once my mum , and wifey .....but luckily they feel something not right and call me why my fish tank so quite suddenly . And manage to on back the pump .

condolences for your loss bro. i know the feeling... have invested in APC UPS for my Hi blow so at least can tahan for awhile longer incase power failure... and for my pump & airpump switches all are boxed up with the plug box and written on top of the box '' do not touch '' so my helper what ever she do she wont touch that. so for what ever reasons should she off any thing else would be the lights , wave maker etc... cheer up , looking forward to your updates of your new comm

Think maybe you should invest in an IP camera where you can monitor from your smartphone/lappy every few hours...
