Put aside overdosing and lets strictly follow the instruction :

Based on the product label :

Chlorine - 5g (5ml) treat 750L. So 3.33g to treat 500L
Chloramine - 5g (5ml) treat 950L. So 2.6g to treat 500L

Based on the web :

Chlorine AND Chloramine - 100mg (0.1g or 0.1ml) treat 100L. So 500mg (0.5g or 0.5ml) to treat 500L.

Fm the web :
Directions for all other sizes

Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 1,250 L (300 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine.

Say we want to treat 600L of water.

Based the product label :

Chlorine - 5g (5ml) treat 750L. So 4g to treat 600L
Chloramine - 5g (5ml) treat 950L. So 3.16g to treat 600L

Based on the web :

Chlorine AND Chloramine - 1.25g for every 1,250 L. So 0.625g to treat abt 600L.

I wrote an email to Seachem :

Hi there,

I am new to Seachem Safe (been using Prime) and I got confused after comparing the dosage direction on the product label vs the direction on the web.

Say I want to treat 500L of water.

Based on the product label :
Chlorine - 5g treat 750L. So 3.33g to treat 500L
Chloramine - 5g treat 950L. So 2.6g to treat 500L

Based on the web :
Chlorine AND Chloramine - 100mg (0.1g) treat 100L. So 500mg (0.5g) to treat 500L.

Info fm the web :
Directions for all other sizes
Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 1,250 L (300 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine.

Say I want to treat 600L of water.

Based the product label :
Chlorine - 5g treat 750L. So 4g to treat 600L
Chloramine - 5g treat 950L. So 3.16g to treat 600L

Based on the web :
Chlorine AND Chloramine - 1.25g for every 1,250 L. So 0.625g to treat abt 600L.

There is GREAT different in dosage requirement between product label and the info on your current web.

Pls advise.

Ben,

Thank you for your email. The dosing instructions have changed over the years to account for the different treatment methods used by various municipalities across the globe.

The website now showcases the most current formulations for the product Safe and those instructions will supersede all other directions. All new labels will match the instructions on he website which are tailored to current chlorine and chloramine levels. The current dosage is: Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 1,250 L (300 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 300 L (75 gallons) for ammonia.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day!
