Yoz! Thanks!
2 live hatchlings now from a total 20 eggs. The eggs was split into 2 batch of 14 and 6. I think I removed the turtle before she finish laying her eggs (first 14) thus she was holding on to the other 6 for another 2 weeks before I got her to lay again. Seeing only a little time has passed, I deem both batch as a single clutch. She laid another 16 eggs on Sunday itself so that is about 7 weeks plus from the first 14 laid on Oct 26. I caught the eggs hatching because I was getting ready to add in the new batch to existing one. |

Haha thanks bro! Shells are kinda hard...very similar to chicken egg shells. It does have a membrane below the shell which is soft and flexible.

Eggs were laid on Oct 26 and I have marked them with numbers. Eggs that hatched was 1 and 2 so definitely from the Oct 26 batch. About 7 weeks from laid to hatch. |

So I presume the eggs are marked immediately aft laying and nv got a chance to roll out of position right?
Nice hatchlings anyways Any chance of adoption? |

However you can check out my previous threads and see the videos from the first batch laid in HDB grounds. Thanks! Quote:
No worries about rolling the eggs around as long as we are able to get the eggs out from the nest quickly. If however the eggs were left in the nest untouched for several days and the embryo has already begin developing, that might cause a problem. It is fine to handle the eggs within the first day of them being laid. I got several requests already about adoption and purchase, however, since this is considered an endangered species, I am not sure how best to proceed. I can only keep the first 2 hatchlings but I won't be able to keep the rest since they can grow quite large especially for females which can easily reach 30+ cm length wise... Suppose I let people adopt them for free...then I would get request from everyone including those looking for freebies and couldn't care less on how to take care of them. Should I charge a price for them, then I might get into trouble of "trading" an endangered species and AVA might pay me a visit. I have thought of contacting the Turtle museum at Chinese Garden and see if they are keen to adopt the hatchlings since it might be my only safe and legal option. But then again, I have read some of the horror stories of the living conditions there so I am having doubts too... Gonna have to figure something out fast though...can't keep all of them in my 3 room HDB. How I wish I have a landed property with a big pond to keep all of them. |
