Default Marko Grujic proving a big hit with Cardiff - and Neil Warnock

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is proving a big hit with Championship promotion chasers Cardiff City.

Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock believes the young Serbian, who joined the club on loan last month, has benefited massively from the experience of playing regular first-team football.

“I think he’s got better,” Warnock said.

“He’s not getting caught in possession as much now. He’s realising how quick it is, especially in your own half. If you dwell on the ball in the Championship it’s too late.

“I think he’s got more strengths to his bow. He’s made us play a bit more, he’s got quite good vision and he’s been very good in the air for us as well so he’s growing into it.”

Having largely being restricted to defensive midfield duties so far, Grujic told Cardiff’s official programme that he expects to make a contribution further forward over the coming weeks.

“I’ve had a particular role to play in a few of our games as Millwall and Leeds had some dangerous attacking midfielders to track,” he said.

“I think in future you may see the attacking side of my game a bit more.

“The gaffer knows what I can do and that I don’t have a problem playing different roles so we’ll see what happens in our upcoming games.”

Default Lazio chief confirms transfer boost for Liverpool and Everton over Stefan de Vrij

Both Liverpool and Everton have been handed a possible transfer boost as it has been confirmed Stefan de Vrij will leave Lazio for free at the end of the season.

The Merseyside clubs have both been linked with moves for the Dutch defender in the past, although Liverpool have since signed international teammate Virgil van Dijk.

Everton , on the other hand, are believed to have been interested in the 26-year-old in both January and in the summer - with director of football Steve Walsh said to be a long-term admirer of the former Feyenoord man.

Either club would face stiff competition from some of Europe's top clubs for the signature, especially after Lazio sporting director Igli Tare recently confirmed that he will leave for free in the summer.

There was an offer of a contract renewal on the table from the Serie A side, but that has now been withdrawn.

"Lazio have withdrawn the proposal we made for a new contract to De Vrij," Tare told Mediaset Premium.

"We are withdrawing for reasons that we will explain later on. It was a choice made after many months of negotiations, but there is also a limit to how things went.

"He has been an exemplary professional and we thank him for that as well as what he'll do until the end of the season. He gave a lot to the club, just as we gave a great deal to him, but our paths will divide in June.

"We did things the right way, but things changed at the last moment. We no longer wish to continue along this path. The only thing certain is that in the world there are no lack of players."

Matchday Officials Announced

Liverpool vs. West Ham United

Referee: Stuart Attwell

Assistants: Richard West, Mark Scholes

Fourth official: Martin Atkinson

Attwell was last in charge of the Reds in September 2010, strangely. That was a 2-2 draw with Sunderland, and the only other time he’s taken charge of Liverpool in the league was March of the same year, as Portsmouth were dispatched 4-1.

Default Woodburn available for U19s in Youth League tie

Ben Woodburn has been made available to play for Liverpool U19s in their UEFA Youth League last-16 tie with Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Wales international featured in each of the young Reds’ group-stage fixtures as they won five out of six games against NK Maribor, Sevilla and Spartak Moscow.

And Woodburn has joined up with Steven Gerrard’s squad as they prepare for the knockout meeting with rivals United, to be played at 3pm GMT at Prenton Park.

Goalkeeper Kamil Grabara is also available for the one-off tie, with the winners set to face either Manchester City or Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.
