Car is convenient

But seriously if use uber/taxi/mrt, better utility and satisfaction using the money saved for other things.
Then can have a real retirement fund, not the One that keeps defaulting as you get older.

Hope they raise COE so high, only those who can really afford it get it. Otherwise, so many lemmings wasting their lives spending their hard earned money and future away.

He is an expert in housing, and speaking on housing infrastructure pov, which isn't wrong. A country's planning can't take immediate future into consideration only but even beyond us.

Some parents would say, because of their children, they need a car. I guess with PHV, they realised they can make do without a car now.

But I still believe there are a good fraction of car owners who spent 30% or more a month, on their car.

I am one of those who would need a car.
3 small kids, 9,5,4 years old.
They can't take PHV due to child seat rules, only taxi can.
Sometimes weekend still got to bring mum out. So mum sit front, 3 kids with wife squeeze behind.
Used to own a jazz but scrapped in Sept. Recently just book a Kia basic model.
But seriously if not wife nagged, would prefer just taxi on weekend. Much much cheaper except will be going out less often only.

The only way is to make driving on the roads expensive as well so that ppl will think twice before driving. I think owning a car is fine, it’s just that our roads cannot support so many cars. So make driving the car expensive like more costly petrol, more erp, etc.
