FSG make special presentation to Kenny Dalglish
Kenny Dalglish was presented with a special memento on behalf of Fenway Sports Group ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Huddersfield Town at Anfield. LFC director Mike Gordon handed over the No.7 tribute to celebrate the opening of the Kenny Dalglish Stand as well as to commemorate the legendary Scot's immeasurable contribution to the Reds, both on and off the field over the last four decades. "It is a huge privilege for my family and myself to have the stand named in our honour and I can't thank FSG enough for that," said Dalglish. “The unveiling ceremony was an extremely proud moment for me and the best thing of all was that I was able to celebrate it my family. Tom, John and Mike were kind enough to understand the importance of that and made it possible by allowing the unveiling to take place on a day when we could all be there, even though that meant they were unable to be present. "It was great to have the opportunity to catch up with Mike today and the memento he presented me with on behalf of FSG will have a special place in our hearts." The Kenny Dalglish Stand renaming ceremony took place on October 13, with fans occupying it for the first time under its new title the following day during the Premier League fixture with Manchester United. |

Rhian Brewster scores as England win U17 World Cup
Rhian Brewster's eighth goal of the tournament kick-started a remarkable 5-2 comeback victory for England over Spain in Saturday's U17 World Cup final. A first-half double from Sergio Gomez put Spain in charge in Kolkata, but Liverpool striker Brewster's expertly-taken header shortly before the interval halved the Young Lions' deficit. Morgan Gibbs-White then struck a 58th-minute equaliser and Phil Foden put England in front 11 minutes later. Steve Cooper's side were not finished, though, as late goals from Marc Guehi and Foden put the gloss on an incredible turnaround and confirmed their status as world champions. Brewster finished the tournament as top scorer, with seven of his eight goals coming in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. |

LFC team news: Lovren, Gomez, Moreno and Karius
Liverpool must check on fitness issues for Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and Alberto Moreno before the Champions League clash with Maribor. Lovren sustained a thigh injury in the warm-up for Saturday’s Premier League game against Huddersfield Town, which the Reds won 3-0. Since that match, meanwhile, Gomez and Moreno are being assessed before Jürgen Klopp makes the final decision on his starting line-up to face the Slovenian champions. Asked for an update on fitness concerns, the boss told Liverpoolfc.com: “We had a few – it’s not fixed so far. “We had a few little issues after the game: of course, before the game Dejan was already out; Joe a little bit, nothing too serious; Alberto Moreno. “It was an intense game for us, there was pressure on it. We really have to look and we need to use each hour. In the end, we will line up the line-up we expect the most of.” Klopp also confirmed that Loris Karius will continue his run of Champions League appearances on Wednesday night. “Yes, there’s no doubt,” said the German. |

Jürgen Klopp reveals Philippe Coutinho fitness latest
Philippe Coutinho will continue to be assessed before a decision is made on his involvement when Liverpool host Maribor in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The Brazilian missed the weekend win over Huddersfield Town due to an adductor issue and remains a doubt for the Group E tie, Jürgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com when asked if he could feature at Anfield. “To be honest, it doesn’t look like, but yesterday he was on the pitch running. Everything looks good, but not sure. We’ll see,” said the manager. “We didn’t speak about him today so far, it’s quite early and there are still a few hours until we train tonight and a few hours until the game. If he is ready, he is playing. If not, not.” |
