One more question is, can we use any light we feel that can improve the looks of the PB?

No problem. Quote:
No need. You submit only one image per fish entry. You decide which image is best. Quote:
If fish is dead, I don't see any issues. But if fish was earlier sold to someone else, it may get sticky if the existing owner also wants to participate. If you seek permission, please indicate who is current owner and that he has agreed. If any participants lie about this, and if any issues arise from the fish's existing owner, AF will not mediate the matter. It will be considered a private dispute. Up to you what lights you wish to use while taking the photos. Just no post processing edits on photographs. |

Marshy, for this competition, which is more important?
1) Quality of the fish - which means that when it comes to photography, we should take full side view of the fish and make sure that fish is in sharp focus so that the fish can be judged based on its merits. In this instance, focus is on the fish and standard of photography is not so important. OR 2) Quality of the photograph - that means we can take pictures of the fish in any angle, close-ups, with soft focus, etc just like in a photo competition. OR 3) Combination of (1) and (2) Thanks. |

First and foremost. Participants need to understand that this is a FISH Competition and NOT a Photo Competition. However, due to its nature of judging by online methods, it is up to participants on how well they can capture the fish in photo. You can hire professional (E.g. Mod Amiidae) to take the photos for you and then use them for the competition. Or you can use your Handphone to just do casual shoot. In the end, the initial main judging is by the members. Coming back to your question, I would say its a combination of both options. If you think you have a beautiful fish but your photography sucks in bringing out the beauty of the fish, get someone with better equipment and photography skills to shoot for you. |
