ANS Opticube 45M - Experimental Planted Tank Take 2
Some of you may remember my previous Opticube 1ft cube tank. That was my first foray back into planted, testing the Borneowild substrate and fertilizer system and relearning how to keep a high tech planted tank again. Mishaps happened, and I finally decided to decommission that tank and start a new one.
This new tank is only about 5L more volume than the previous tank, but in very different dimensions - 45 x 27 x 30 cm. This time round, thanks to very kind sponsorship from a friend, I will be trying out the ADA substrate system, as previously advised by bro Jon-san. I've used the ADA system many years ago, as well as Gex soil with my "DIY ADA base", and both gave me pretty satisfactory results. Overall, I prefer them to my experience with the BW system (though generally I still don't like ADA as a brand). I'll be reusing most of my equipment from the old setup, but here's the list anyway: Tank: ANS Opticube 45M (45cm x 27cm x 30cm) with black oyama Filter: Eheim 2215 with Mr Aqua ceramic rings using Gush gPipe 13 and oPipe mini 10 Light: Maxspect Razor Nano 60W CO2: Pressurized with solenoid and UP Aqua Inline CO2 Atomizer Substrate: ADA Aquasoil with Penac W, Penac P, Powersand Special S, Mosura Old Sea Mud powder and La Plata decorative sand Fertilizers: DIY NPK [Ca(NO3)2, KH2PO4, KCl], Seachem Flourish Comprehensive and BorneoWild Ferrum Hardscape: BorneoWild Rutsuuddo Root Type Wood and BorneoWild Grey River Stones The setup is still very much a work in progress, but here's a sneak preview: I'll try to keep this thread updated as I go along setting it up! |

Nice sized tank for a table-topper, i presume you will be placing it towards the sides/corner of your table?

Nope bro, where I took the pic is where I usually sit, the tank is placed diagonal for optimum viewing

Yup my office has a long table and allows my fish tank. I have a great boss The CO2 is the 1 liter ocean free set with ocean free solenoid. Cost wise best to check with retailers. I got mine from C328 |

Just be careful of the loading on your table. 4Xkg of tank over the long term may cause your table to sag...

Already anticipated bro, so directly under the table where the tank is, is a metal chest of drawers that can act as support. I've also had a CADE 45x30x35 tank in my previous office with same type of table with no issues |
