Default 65g predatory FOWLR - stock advice?

hey guys. let's get some discussion going in the saltwater section, huh?

i have a FOWLR setup in a 4'X18"X18" 65 gallon tank. here's a pic of the rockscape.

photo taken when the tank was revamped, i also have two koralia4 wavemakers and a seio in there now. along with some detritus

yesterday i added a 3" coney, cephalopholis fulva, to the system. would have liked a more striking hind but this is going to have to be a quick and easy and very basic setup. read: broke student skimping on as much as he can

so, looking at my rockscape, what fish do you recommend? i am thinking of adding only one or two more fish. they should be small to midsize hardy predators. fish that are able to be fed table shrimp is a huge plus.

How about a frogfish(Genus Antennarious)? Should look nice with all that rockwork.

i like my fish to look like fish
kidding, but i'm not very interested in frogs, scorpions or lions for this tank.
faster-moving, responsive fish is what i'm after. i am pondering the trigger family too. my only gripe is they aren't as easy to feed as other preds.
i think, with all the plateaus that i have, a hawkfish would be a nice choice. but have you seen the larger species for sale here?

just had a thought - dottyback eels! also known as carpet-eel blennies, conger blennies, wolf eels, wolf blennies, the list goes on
congrogadus subducens is the scientific name, and they are actually a species of dottyback. i've had a few of them before and they would be perfect for my ideal of grouper-like fish for this tank. here's a pic:

anyone seen these fish around? they used to be fairly common.
edited to add: is there any problem with running more than one skimmer on one tank? i have heard that it doesn't make a difference. how true is that?

I dont recall seeing any of the larger species of hawkfish ever being on sale before. The usual pixie, longnose, flame hawkfish would eventually end up becoming potential prey for the grouper. I haven't seen any dottyback eels around lately either.

I've also heard about the protein skimmer thing where running 1 large skimmer is better than having 2.

Fast, responsive predatory fish,I dont have any suggestions yet.

how about groupers? but they'll spend most of their time hiding in caves in yoor rockscape. during feeding time, they surely whack fast and hard.

dang. those giant hawks are beautiful fish. i think i'll hold out for a dottyback eel though. they're my #1 choice right now.
one large skimmer is definitely preferable to two or more small ones, but do you think having two small ones is better than having one small one? sounds like a silly question, but i have some nagging doubts.

groupers are the very thing i'm looking for i already have a coney, this little bugger

they do not do well with conspecifics, so i dont think i can add something like a miniatus
and apart from panther grouper, which i have had before and want to avoid, i cant think of many other species suitable as a coney's tankmate.

I was thinking, what about hogfish? The coral hogfish(Bodianus mesothorax) looks quite good and it seem to fit your requirements.

thanks! great suggestion, i was hesitant about the usual FOWLR-type wrasses [would love a harlequin tuskfish but just can't afford one]
but hogfish are not a bad choice.
keep em coming
