New Tank NO2 level very high
hi there i have just set up a new nano tank to quartine fishes.
IOS tank is 1.5 X 1 X 1 ft but i realise that my NO2 is dam high. last colour range from test kit i put damsel in it dont really like to swim so i put it into my i wonder what go wrong. first week water + salt , keep for a week. yesterday add LR and filter media filter media are 1) few bio ball 2) white sponge 3) LR (1 kg) 4) main tank 5 kg no sand base yet actaully last time i did the same way for my 3 ft tank with 3 ft sump but every thing is very good. any one know what problem? is LR dying? as i put my LR in a bare tank with air pump for 1 month ready. but LR have no bad smell and also coraline algae still there. |

Most probably the cause could be the die-offs from the live rock and suggest that you either do a new startup again or re-fill the Q-tank with the water from the main tank.
Also place a piece of live rock from the main tank to the Q-tank so that it contains the necessary beneficial bacteria. In addition, both tanks are having the same water parameters which wont cause any stress to the fish when moving the fish to the main tank. In short, the Q-Tank is now part of the Main Tank. |

actually i suspect that my main tank have white spot problem but all fish are immute to it so i think i dont want to have water and LR from main tank. if i transfer my cheato over will it do good to my Q tank? and do 50% water change. |

I think in this case it is best that you start treat your Q-tank as a new setup with just a piece of live rock and let it cycles.

It is best that you check your NO2 then follow by NO3 .. they should be undectable.
