Substrate Enquiry
Hi guys,
Me now in the process of converting my FW into a Brackish den into a marine tank. i'm currently using grade c-0 sand as a substrate. but i read up and this is not good for marine tank.. is this true? the sand look like ordinary sand from the beach. can any bro help? if i cannot use for marine setup.. wat substrate can u guys recommend me? wat brand and price. thanks in advance |

can. most ppl use grade 0 for marine.
but its irritating to some people because of the constant dust particles floating around if the powerhead is not in the right direction |

Agreed.
Due to the requirement for more water movement in a marine tank, the sand particles would be constantly kicked up into the water column. Another problem would be the sandbed shifting and causing the rocks(if any) to collapse. This would be a problem many face when using such fine sandbeds. 1 way to overcome this would be to cover the sandbed with a thin layer of coarser sand. We can use coral chips or coarser grain coral sand like c5.
