What cannister for my setup?
Im using a 1.5ft tank, with a chiller Hailea 100-A (flow rate is at 200L-1000L/H).
Currently looking into eheim cannister. Im leaning towards the classic series, as i have heard about quite a few bad experience with the ecco series (this break that break). *Jiang lao de la For a 1.5ft tank which of the classic should i get, considering getting the optimum balance between the output into the tank and the chiller. My tank is a planted tank. Would like to get some advice here. Last edited by Excelsior; 13-12-2010 at 11:55 PM. |

If u find the cannister plastic is filmsy and breaks easily, maybe look ard, I know Fluval plastic seems more "solid".

There are 2 type of the handle, the one that comes with mine has a red plastic thing at both ends that is not molded together with the handle, this is the problematic part. I always have to use 2 screw driver to push them to remove the cover.
But the improve version uses a 1pcs molded handle that doesn't have that red part and it makes opening and closing much easier. I bought the handle to replace mine and it works fine. |

Ok...Ecco now seems to be a better choice for me as long as im careful with it
Does the ecco series require the double tap that the classics use? So now im looking into the ecco 2236 for my 1.5ft tank with chiller. Would it be a overkill ? Last edited by Excelsior; 16-12-2010 at 10:27 PM. |

But 2211 flowrate is at 300l/h, my chiller requires 200-1000 l/h.
However for 2211 that 300l/h would be greatly reduced when the filter medias are loaded, coupled with the fact that it has to power through all those pipings and lastly my chiller. As such, many aquarium hobbyist believes that when a cannister filter is loaded the flow rate effectively will be cut by half. which is now a measly +-150l/h. Its definitely not enough to power my chiller and in long run it will have dmgs... And i have read from some other threads that 2211 is no longer being imported in SG. Thus i was thinking of like getting 2236 (ecco), flow rate from the site is at 600 l/h, with the pipings, media loaded, chiller all considered it should lower itself to around 300-400 l/h? Is it still considered an overkill? The main thing is i wan to get a healthy output for my chiller which is around 450-650 l/h? Need help guys...I don even know if im right |
