Default Freshwater Dorados (Genera: Salminus) Thread #1

all about the freshwater dorados genera of Salminus.

the 3 species under this genera:
  1. Golden Dorado/Jaw characin - Salminus brasiliensis (previously Salminus maxillosus)
  2. Salminus Hilarii
  3. Salminus Affinis

my juvenile goldie:

on day 1 (~5"):


~2 wks later (~6.5"):

Wow.. Just two weeks and the difference are so great.. Should thanks to your phototaking skill too..

WOW....only 2 weeks soo much difference....the both look like totally different fish alrdy....

2 week only the colour already out..

its one of the game fish in fishing too

Got another 2 more. This one confirm accidental finding at the LFS. Now got a total of 3 in the tank. Hopefull they can co-exist peacefully.





As usual, they swim super fast and almost impossible to take a descent picture of them.
