End of the day is believe what you see, the genetics and lastly is the Trust that oneself have between u and the seller ...

Development wise for fishes I would said some is faster while some is slower(good genes), likewise can't compare a girl toddler to a 18yr old lady

For example koi can't compare a tosai(tategoi) with a go-sai in term of development

Just my 2 cents
