Hi.
Channa Aurantimaculata is a SUB-TROPICAL fish. This means it needs summer temps of 22c, winter temps of 18c. Tank needs to be heavily planted, with substrate, as they love to digg. Minimum tank size for one is 4ft x 2ft x2ft. A 3ft tank is plain cruel. Stunting fish is not the answer!!! These will grow to a max of around 40cm, and are best kept alone. If you keep these in non sub-tropical for long, they will most likely die from bacterial infections such as lateral line erosion. (common with Auranti) Here arew some pics of mine kept in optimal conditions (low ph, sub tropical temps, and well planted tank) Sorry to hijack your thread, but I just wanted to show you how beautiful these fish are IF kept in the correct conditions. |
