Wool sponge ceramic rings .... any mechanical media that can filter out small particles to make the water clear.

lightedmouse, ur planted tank no fauna at all arh.... hmm.., y not add some shrimps or sumting? it not only beautifies ur tank but aso help eat away and insect larve. later the garmen pple cum ur hse they can fine u for that lehz, say u bleeding mosqito..

Hahaa, yar. Put in a few tetras and some shrimp. Eat larve and algea.

i dont think theres a need to. i placed them because i think they dont choke easily, less cleaning. I got fishes in the tank now.

Hi

Mine actually have but being a small tank, molly seems unmatching, too big.maybe will get tiny fishes.

I would like to reflute on that... Biological filtration is as important as mechanical filtration. While mechanical filter will stop all debris in water, biological filtration is the one that acutally clean the water in microscorpic level. Most planted tank with crystal clear water are result of biological filtration either in cannister or internal filter with multiple layers of filter medium. The last layer is usually ceramic ring or ball with lots of tiny pore for micro organism to live in. They are the one that treat the water as it pass through.
