can you tell readers more on your tank;
how big is it?
what are the fishes, plants, furniture inside?
what the main problem? brownish color? food debris? cloudiness?

adding activated carbon in the filter helps in improving water clarity in many cases.
but remember to remove the activated carbon after using for 2 weeks, if not, it will release pollutants back into your water.

Hi dave57
New setup tank since last week
Run water for 2 days using aqua science technology
My tank is 2.5ftby1.5ftby1.5ft
Currently using OHF custom make from n30
1st compartment wool, 2nd compartment filter wool,3rd compartment momotaro and biohome plus
Currently 2 kamfa
One is 3.5 inch and the other one is only 1.2 inches in size with divider
In the tank only small pebnle red rocks
Just use high active minerals few days ago not sure if its the cause of water being a bit cloudy
Regards

Do you pour in the whole container of High Active Powder into your tank?

Usually I use a water bottle to prepare my High Active as the powder will not dissolved completely.

You can find may videos in Youtube for example

and last is you introduce your fish too early... you see my tank, I cycle for 1 month before I get my kamfa. and initially I only test the water with 1x BP, so anything happen my heart will not be pain. the more food u feed the more left overs then the water gets more milky/cloudy.

AST is not magic. It detoxifies ammonia yes, but you still need to cycle your tank as the ammonia will just keep building up unless handled by water changes. Typically takes two weeks at least for bacteria to start taking root in filter media. Be careful when changing water to avoid having chlorinated water contact your bio filter. It is very fragile in the early stage.

Cloudy water that passes filter wool is probably bacterial bloom in action. You will want to reduce feed until the bio filter is more established. Fish can go a long time without food.
