goldfish gasp 4 air
as seen from my gallery i hav 2 goldfishes in a 2ft tank, one of the smaller goldfish frequently move to the surface to gasp 4 air. will this become a problem in the future n any idea the reason 4 this. One more thing, i m onli using a powerhead to agitate the surface, so is it because of a lack in oxygen???

hi there,
fromthe pic i can see that you submerged your internal filter quite deep under the water level. There may be movement in the water but not on the surface. Try to push the filter higher up till you can see ripples on the water surface. This will allow more dissolve oxygen in the water. better act fast as goldfishes die from lack of oxygen pretty fast. |

maybe then it is really not strong enough. Is there a air tube outlet on the top of your internal filter? If there is, then put a airline on the outlet and let in dispense air bubbles thru the filter.
If this still dun work, then I think you need to put in an air stone. As i can see, there are a lot of plants in your tank...the plants may be dispensing a lot of CO2 in the water at night to cause this... |

wha lau..that is a very stupid reply from the shop....irrespponsible answer.
I would really sugegst that you place an air pump....first and see the result.... if it is still like this, i am very afraid that ur goldfish might have some internal bacteria infection. |

well...the reason could be numerous.....it could be due to gill disease as well..therefore the goldfish cannot breath properly....
are there blood streaks on the fish's tail? put in an air stone and see what happens.... maybe your goldfish is jus really being playful and blowing bubbles... |

dun think that your plants will die...jus put a small air stone/bar in..and not a too powerful pump...
