Singapore condemns 'senseless act of violence' in Berlin: PM Lee

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Tuesday (Dec 20) condemned an attack on one of Berlin's most-visited Christmas markets as a "senseless act of violence".

"I am shocked by the vicious attack last night at a Christmas market in one of Berlin’s liveliest districts,"
Mr Lee said in a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

He added that "Singapore condemns this senseless act of violence and stands in solidarity with Germany".
He offered "deepest condolences to the bereaved families" on behalf of the Singapore Government.

Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan also offered his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
In a letter to Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier, he said that he was "appalled" by the attack.

"Please accept my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Singapore stands in solidarity with Germany during this challenging period."

At least 12 people were killed and 48 others injured when a truck ploughed into a crowd at the Christmas market at the foot of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

'Despicable': Singapore condemns killing of Russian ambassador

SINGAPORE: The assassination of Russia’s ambassador to Turkey was a “despicable act” for which there can be no justification,
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Tuesday (Dec 20).

Mr Andrei Karlov was shot in the back as he opened a show of Russian photographs at an Ankara exhibition centre,
on the eve of a key meeting in Moscow between the Russian, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers on the Syria conflict.

In a statement condemning the killing, the MFA said: "There can be no justification for such a despicable act, particularly against a diplomat.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said in a Facebook post that he was saddened by news of the attack, which he called “vicious and indefensible”.

“It is an assault on the right of diplomats to safely represent their countries,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Russian people.”

Footage of the incident showed the ambassador standing up to speak at a lectern, before stumbling and falling to the ground as shots rang out,
lying flat on his back as the attacker brandished his gun at shocked onlookers.

The gunman, who has been identified as 22-year-old Turkish policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas, talked after the shooting about pledging allegiance to extremism
and said those who participated in "tyranny" in Aleppo would be "held accountable".

The victims that died and injured includes old people, woman and children. What is this related to AMTK?

If the same thing to happen to Singapore - which I would say can easily copied by extremist, also related to AMTK?

And if it happened in Singapore and your own family members were killed, what would be your comment?

If there is nothing nice to write about such sensitive matter, don't comment and stir an hornet nest. You are doing yourself a deservice.

this is truth....AMTK is human...rest are not....this is well known worldwide....but before we point our finger at PM Lee....let take a look at our own circle of friends first in FB.

still remember paris attack few months back?
majority of the FB users change their profile pics into france flag mourning for them instead, a lot of country also change to france flag colour as well...example Taiwan 101? truth or not, you can see for yourself.
