Obtain CFO approval to start an aquarium
I have been away from keeping fishes for a few years due to space constraint. Just moved into a new place and have some space to keep a tank of aquarium which my CFO approved. I am thinking of keeping discus which I used to keep but lately been hunting around but seems like not much discus specialize shops.
Can someone recommend places to shop for good spotted discus like Albino spotted, leopard ? Also, where to made a 2 tier 5x2x2 with bottom 5 sets of 1 feet x 2 feet tanks. I prefer those with stand inside but a cabinet to cover up? |

for space constraints, best is to plan proper before starting.
Instead of 5 feet, I would recommend you to start with 3 or 4 tier 3 feet tanks. try to get tanks with width greater than 18 inches. But try not to go more than 2 feet width else maintenance will be an issue. with this set up you will at least have 2 community tanks and a couple of proper breeding tanks, should you want to venture into breeding. Plan proper and will have less issues with CO. Enjoy your hobby. |

I personally love discus because they are so graceful. Regardless of the new breed of fishes coming out, I still find discus iconic and soothing to watch. Moreover, they are non aggressive.
You can try with a few bros who are specialising in breeding discus in this forum. Otherwise, specialised discus shops are Chai at AMK, 88 Discus and 3G (now at Seletar Farmway). Happy hunting... |

I have been keeping Discus for years and Discus keeping is in my blood to continue for years to come
In my opinion, you need to establish what is your objective in keeping Discus: > Display tank(s) for relaxation or > into breeding which need lots of time and effort Once you have established your objective, you can then plan for the # of tank and configuration of the tank(s) accordingly. Hope the above help and certainly, welcome to Discus keeping |
