Default surface skimmer

Anyone has experience that your fishes ended up in the filter because the fish jump through the surface skimmer hole?

This happened to me few times already. Think 3 times already. First 2 times by the same fish and now by another fish. Any solutions??

I used to find shrimps and fishes inside the filter!
And its not very often that you take out the cannister.
Guess many shrimps and fishes had been lost this way liao!
Now, i wrapped the skimmer with stocking!

previously, when i open up the canister for maintenance (every 1-2months), i'll find baby fishes or shrimps

nowadays, no more shrimps cos probably all eaten by my discus, rams... still find the occasional fish though.

used to find baby cories, baby platies and just last week, one newly bought juvenile sae.

I'm using the Oista brand skimmer. The hole not big leh..but i suspect the fish jump and managed to be sucked into the canister.

This 3 times, the fish stay inside the canister for quite many days and they managed to survive. They survive on white worms??

But i think it's very bad for the fish gills as the compartment there alot of fish waste

yea I observed that fishes which stay in the filter for too long often appear deformed, dull-coloured and weak probably due to lack of proper nutrients but this situation doesnt affect shrimps anyway...

maybe you can try putting a rubber tube where your water level was always at.. then you would find any more problem..
