In general, I found that red colour leave plants don't survive easily. Not too good for a novice to start with.
You may try when the tank is more stabilise. |

Another option is the Nymphaea lotus 'Zenkeri' aka Tiger Lotus For both plants, strong lighting is essential. Other then which the other minerals needed for the healthy growth of plants which Iron is highlighted in this aspect. |

For Tiger Lotus, I added a monster root tab in the roots and its growing fine, 2 new leaves a month. Rememebr to trim the leaves to control the height of the plants to keep it short. Once mine grew out of hand due to me having an overseas work stint and the lotus leaves covered 1/2 my tank surface... Power...
