I ask, as Hikari pellets, awesome that they are, can go off after a while.
I had similar problems with a little Endli once, it turned out to be off pellets producing too much excess gas in the little fishy.

It passed after a few days, and Endli was right as rain.

Market prawn, blood worms and feeders only. It seems kinda fine now, with only much paler colouring. Hoping that this condition will pass soon, like your endli.

Main way is most Congi will have straight vertical bars.

Sometimes you get low pattern ones, so head shape differs too.

My favorite Congis:
(ignore the coloration of the first, as this is a "black" variant. The second one is the normal color)
