Never rush into buying either type.
Take your time to source around.
Plenty of gold to choose n red too.
Red needs a lot of patience and gold too need all those WTT or lighting.
If you wants to see some results. Get a bigger piece and from hobbyist which may want to give up hobby. That's the right time to strike......

Actually consider what kind of lighting environment u prefer. Red normally needs red light to bring out the full 'ang ang' environment. While gold is white light.

I ever tried both and generally prefer the white light. I find I can't enjoy the beauty of fish under artificial red light for long. Also...I like 'kim' lah...they really help to enhance the overall beauty of yr living room too...
