Help! Aros not eating!
Hi bros!
I recently added 2 rtgs to my tank along with some tankmates. Its a 422 setup and my rtgs are about 9" each. Its been a week and they still refused to eat. The the tank have been treated with melafix after their addition and wc has been done since. The rest are eating healthily, but the 2 aros are refusing to eat. Tried mp and they each took a bite on the 2nd day and since then have not eaten. Not even live feeders. They have started fighting already but just normal comm dmg so far. Any bros have any adivice will be muc appreciated. Thanks!! |

Aro 1 week never eat I also don't care much. Maybe not yet settle down or too stress. Mine already 1 weeks never eat after I sold other 2tank mates and I also don't bother it. As long as you have faith in your clean water, aro will eventually eat when it's hungry. Don't anyhow add medication unless you know your fish is sick.

ts, allow the juveniles to adjust themselves to the new environment.
btw, the rtgs will come to it when they are ready. maintain good water parameters is fundamental in your comm tank. |

When your aros are not sick don't add Melafix into tank water.
Suggest you do a 20% wc twice weekly for a month to improve the water condition. This help slowly clear away the medication and improve water parameter. Hope your aros will slowly be more stable and start feeding soon. |

Imho, your aros still not familiar with their new environment yet. Hoped your 2 pcs comm will be a success.

If I could add on, a bit of current is good too. If you have faith in your water and filtration, they will be just fine and come to terms really soon. Avoid using fish feeders. I've used baxter appetite enchancer with success. Also, juvenile aros are jumpy. |

they still have yet to start eating. im doing about 30% wc weekly. I'm using bioearth at the moment, but not sure if it will increase their appetite. I think I will try baxter's appetite enhancer bro hydher mentioned. |

IMHO, you dont have to do anything drastic..
Just normal WC and soon your Aro will eat. 1week to 2 week of not eating when introduced to new enviroment is normal. Cheers! |

My aro stopped eating after it got a 'shock' during maintenance. You can observed his behavoir changed, swimming around nervously. I added Baxter appetite enhancer and black water and after a few days he start eating back. I think generally stress fish don't eat. Stress due to bad water, new environment, low oxygen, intimitation from tank mate.....would cause the fish to lose intereste in food. See what is the issue and remove those factors that would cause stress.
