1 thing about the oppositions are.... funding. actually with money u can do almost anything. stay landed u can even put ur own lift.... end of day its how to tap into the public fund and how they can utilised properlly. how those money in GIC are poured back into the national treasury, how they work i doubt many of the opposition parties are aware thus they are pretty much tied hands tied legs.

getting clearance is also another of the problems. even when my time as GRL, those gov departments also only give some face to ministers, but will still drag case. only if like transport minister step in on transport case, than will work very fast..... imagine opposition party MP (MP only hor.....) thats it.

so if there is an extremely strong and RICH opposition team formed, i doubt there can be much things done. also lobbying and pulling strings is another thing in life thats very diffiult to do....

Different people look at election in a different way. I look at it more from the point of National level, where PAP has for years, push through their policies, without any resistance, even when the whole world complains. What they only need to do, and they do that all the time, is to enforce the party whip. And all PAP MPs hv to vote along party lines, whether they agree or not. Should we have a casino ? Like it or not .... All PAP MPs hv to vote yes. CPF withdrawal to 65yrs old ? All PAP hv to vote yes. I'll prefer someone to vote NO.

But I think a lot of people view elections on a constituency level. The people seem to be more concerned with bread and butter issues. Lift upgradings, flat upgradings, sheltered walkways, PAP kindergarden, market etc

That's why I think the opposition candidates are not doing enough. They need to walk the ground. Online indications will appear to favour the opposition but when it comes to the ballot box, it's a whole different ballgame altogether.
I totally Agree with you John,,,,, The initial implementation of the CPF scheme was good,,, help people own house,,Money for retirement,, But look at the new red tapes induced later,,,, Withdrawal from 55 yrs to 68 yrs,,,, can we object???? Initial 3 room flat cost what??? In the 80's about $10K - $14K I think Now???? $200-300+ K,,,, at 55 after all payment towards flat still got 150K to withdraw at 55,,, Now???? Work till you die also cannot finish paying for flat,,,,and we can jolly well forget about spending our CPF money before our expiry date,,,
Initial 100% of SA can invest,,, Now?????

An also another "STUPID " scheme .... Your CPF beneficiary ,,, when you die put it into your beneficiary's CPF instead of letting them collect cash,,,,,,
Wonder if any one opted in for this "IDIOTIC" Scheme?????

I have also wanted to ask this question but who can I ask???? What has our first class garmen done for the nation??? In terms of our very basic needs????
1. EDUCATION,,,, why is it so high??????
2. MEDICAL CARE,,,,, Why is it so High????
3. Public Assistance (Social Wealfare),,,, Why is it so low???? ($250/m)

No opposition,,,, They feel like it they implement,,, No objections raised,,, no question ask,,,,

Are we reverting back to "C" rule ?????

when they count, sch A got 75% voted for current party.

that would generally mean that IN GENERAL, the lower half of that particular block A got roughly 75% voted for current party.

than go sch B. scarly, 99% voted opposition. and the block's high half go sch B that is pretty confirmed that higher half of that block voted for opposition. AND! if u damn suay stayed at that higher half and is the only 1% to vote for the current party..... than u know lah....

so they wouldn't know IN EXACT! but they arga arga......

but when words of mouth pass, the arga arga start lossing the words and from arga arga become arga. than arge becom sure knoW......wa piang... hahahaha....

i voted for depending on candidate...

IF sembawang that Tan pei ling come.... sry my vote will go on to opposition. cause there was once had a sharing session with her, felt she very......... off focus, and dislike the way she see volunteers. so she lost my support on the spot..... but other than her, the rest depending on what they can bring to us....

So far never see any oppositions here walking the ground.

Hope to see SDP with Dr Vincent leading a team to contest in Sembawang. WP and NSP also good.

it all starts after some genius invest using Public fund and lose money..look long term.then become buy high sell low. Not even a fund manager to start with..can handle our moolah.. if those selling Minibonds or Highnotes deserve to die. I wonder if the genius is gonna be the first resident in hell.

CPF, is a "bank" for the gov to invest and make more $$, but din you notice that the withdrawal age been postpone from 55 yrs to 68 yrs, after some fail investment? You do the math and the reason is obvious, why they got to move back the age...
