Well some people are taking it to the streets to voice their displeasure. This method LHL may not be able to sue.

I listen to it for abt 3 mins and I got put off by his attitude. Seriously who does he think he is, that when he invite the PM to a open discussion, the PM must oblige. Lidat, PM entertain all these bloggers one by one, he no need to govern, set and approve policies etc liao lar ...... When u attack personally, implying the PM misappropriate CPF funds, then u better hv concrete grounds. All those other points he put across becomes moot and appears to be a tactic to digress from his defamation.

It's hard to trust a government who can give million dollar deal to a $2 company, what more the control of your money? All I want is to see the books but if the president cannot, what chance do I have?
There are many bloggers who did questioned about our CPF. Many of Roy's points were covered. Roy's mistake is to make accusations of wrong-doing therefore crossing the line. |

Remind me of the situation when whistle blowers report that TT Durai extravagant spending and was subsequently sued and made to make public apology by TT lawyers.
If not for gov intervention, who has the power to expose TT ? Now PM is all powerful in SG who can and dare to question him ? Which gov agency dare do that when all report to him ? Though i wont go as far to say the PM is corrupted, but having his wife 8641 1606 as Temasek CEO which report to him is itself a conflict. The person who has the authority to check the balance and account is our President.. our ex president Ong Teng Cheong want to do his work and what is the reply he get from our PM and parliament ? Wa la ler Bo Sauk
[UPDATE on Friday, 23 May at 1145pm: Adding latest from PM Lee's lawyer, Davinder Singh]
[B]PM Lee Hsien Loong has rejected an appeal not to demand for damages and legal costs from blogger Roy Ngerng, [/quote]according to his lawyer Senior Counsel Davinder Singh said in a letter on Friday. Ngerng now has until 5pm next Monday to send in a written offer failing which legal proceedings will be started against him. Earlier on Friday, Ngerng “unreservedly” apologized for a blogpost written last week which was considered defamatory to PM Lee. But the blogger's lawyer M Ravi dismissed the demand for compensation, while urging Lee not to seek damages. "This would be so as to not reduce our client to a most assuredly disadvantaged position," Ravi wrote in a letter to Lee's lawyer on Friday. Ngerng explained that he earned a “modest living” and sought PM Lee’s “kind understanding" in ensuring he "remained afloat and continues in his work”. It was also added that Ngerng would welcome the opportunity to have “open dialogue” on CPF issues with PM Lee. Ngerng said he had penned the article which accused Singapore's Prime Minister of misappopriating CPF funds in an attempt to call for greater transparency on how the CPF is invested by the government through its two sovereign wealth firms. He took down the article and links to it on his Facebook pages on Tuesday in compliance with the prime minister's demand. Ngerng “admits and acknowledges that this allegation is false and completely without foundation," said Ravi. The offending article and the links posted on the associated Facebook pages, had already been removed on Monday. The original lawyer’s letter served by Singh on behalf of PM Lee said the allegations by Ngerng in his May 15 blog post were "false and baseless”. "The article means and is understood to mean that Mr Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore and the chairman of GIC, is guilty of criminal misappropriation of the monies paid by Singaporeans to the CPF (Central Provident Fund)," Singh wrote in the letter. GIC is a sovereign wealth fund that manages more than $100 billion of the city-state's foreign reserves. CPF is the state pension fund. Singh said the post constituted a serious libel against Lee, "disparages him, and impugns his character, credit and integrity". Healthcare programme co-ordinator Ngerng, 33, regularly posts commentaries critical of the long-ruling People's Action Party (PAP) in his blog The Heart Truths. Recent posts have called for greater transparency on how CPF funds are invested by the government through GIC and state investment firm Temasek Holdings. ----------------------------- One moment deleted the post, next moment post smthg else, on e CPF matter, and now expect pleading will help. Not surprise LHL Bo pang Sauk |
