Don't think he can change or influence the HDB rule so fast, especially for a newbie.

If he is a full time minister and spend all 12 hrs and 6 days in office, it will take him years to change all the bloody gov red tapes.

If people not happy, maybe kena complain and become sidelined in next GE.

Do you think he will make such sacrifice or ake this risk?

If he is a billionaire with no worries about future income, by all means, go into gov and kpkb every day, think got higher chance to suceed, at the expense of stepping on many many old bird toes.

I yet to see any successful local businessman to take up this challenge.

If I remember correctly, a minister said rental flats are for those who truly need it. There's a very strict 'means-test' to be passed. Hence not anyone, even if you sold your HDB, can get a rental flat. I won't be surprise that there are a few families living in tents along beaches because of mis-planned.

And for those who run into hardships and thinking of downgrading, better go understand how HDB policy applying you, for example HDB will to take 50% of your sales proceeds to pay for the next apartment. Then again, if buyer is already in hardship, how is he/she going get loan to finance the apt in order that they have cash on hand to settle their outstanding obligations in the first place?

Better check first and knows where one stand before action.

If one sold off 2 HDB flats which one had bought directly from HDB, then one would not be eligible to rent from HDB.
If one sold off 1 HDB flat which one had bought directly from HDB, then can only apply for HDB rental after 30 months.
HDB will also assess if one's other family members are able to provide accommodation, if so, not eligible for HDB rental.
Hence not so easy as the MP think.

Given that he is a specialist, he earns big money in his profession thus no need this rice bowl. If he really is doing it for the people, it will show, than worry about stepping on anyone's toes. We shall see.

Is there any reason why no businessman joins the white camp?
They are willing to serve in grassroot (whether they actually do much grassroot work or not) and be in grassroot for long time, but why not even move up as MP candidate?

Talk wat cock. U thin want get a rental flat so easy? After u sell flat, ur $ go back to ur CPF, den they say u got $ in CPF cannot rent, rental is only for very poor ppl with very little CPF or super low pay 1. Even so u need to q. Unless u slp on void deck till newspaper interview u, u will slowly wait for ur turn. Plus when u sell ur flat, u cannot rent a gov flat for nxt 3 yrs. if u can pay rental in open mkt, there is no reason u cannot pay HDB. Tx to the 70%!

I would urge Minister Koh make a trip down to HDB, spend 1 day talking/listening to the customer service officers and those waiting outside the rental/appeal area.

That would be too "demeaning" on him to do that cos pple of such status would rather stay within their "comfort zone" and spew rhetoric ideas that shows their true character.
These pple living in their "Ivory Tower" are simply out of touch with people on the street especially heartlanders
