5000 also, yup. I ahve tried it last week. AF is a real problem unless in perfect condition. Shooting moving object is a failure.

Have u seen those chinese kung ku movie??? The same effect.

Bro, there is 1 issue which you need to take note of. You'd need to see if there is misalignment of the sensor - viewfinder. I am not sure if this affects local 300Ds, but you may wish to take note of that. You can do a test before you buy, snap a 3:2 photo with very tight framing and then view it on a notebook (if you have one).

It is not a big problem, btw. Just that other dSLRs are centered but have 95-99% coverage and this is just not centered. The forums say that there is some 3-5% extra coverage to the top and left but very tight on the right and bottom.

Then if it focuses well in your hands (see the results...that is why i told you to get a notebook), buy!

Thanks alot bro. Will update you of any pictures I took.
I have a notebook, I understand that they don't allow people to test because they don't even have a display set in the shop I went to, not so sure about the rest of the shops. Thanks really, are u in this line?

Alright, don't quote me, but you could bring your own notebook and CF card to Canon shop in Funan Centre, it's just beside South Asia Computer centre on the 4th floor. They have a 300D for testing (i have played with it, whacked a lot of shots but no CF card). Explain to them that you are genuinely concerned about the AF performance as well as viewfinder accuracy, but DO NOT quote that you heard it from the forums. They will probably let you test, though you won't be able to leave the table/shop, of course. Do give them a call first to see if they have the set with them beforehand, i just tested it 3 days ago.

Nah....i am not in this line. Just that photography is one of my interests, that's all.

Anyway, do you know that they are paying around S$1.5k in the US shops? SG is still slightly more expensive. Imagine that this costs nearly the same as a Nikon 5700. Ha!

Yup I know they are paying around $1500 in US. Singapore is slightly more expensive, Uk is super expensive if I never see wrongly. I'll do so. I might also just buy and get home, anything send to Canon lor, bobianz. I pretty scare of those menacing eyes of those salesman, hat's why won't think twice of paying more for better service. I also nearly bought 5700 as I really like the design but Nikon is only good for design (My personal feelings). Shopping in Us is great, you can always return anything from 3 weeks to 3months. I return perfums after I found out the smell doesn't turn out to be what I wanted while staying 2yrs ago. Always gets first class service there, sad to say, Singapore is ain't close. Have you heard of the rumours( I term it rumours because no one verfied it even when i email Canon)
This is the email I send them << it is a fact on the following << 20,000 shots for Rebel, 70,000+ shots for 10D. This was from a senior
Canon technical rep. >>> I saw this on Canon's forum. To put it simply, we are paying lots of money for a high end "dispossable" camera.
Their reply as folllows
I do apologize, but Canon USA does not monitor, confirm, endorse, or
attest to the accuracy of any information posted on third party
websites. It seems many customers are overwhelmed by the barrage of
information (or misinformation) being posted on unregulated, non-Canon
websites. Unfortunately, this is not something over which Canon has any
control. We are able only to confirm the performance of the camera based
on our own testing. Canon has not released a specification for the
expected shutter life of either the EOS Digital Rebel or EOS 10D
cameras.

Nikkon has really good stuff with the D2H and D100. They did come out with the D1 first. Their Nikkor lenses used to be top of the class. But sadly they have been slipping, including their lenses. Who the hell will buy a $3288 D100 with the 10D costing nearly 1k less and 300D at half the price?

Shutter life is naturally limited what. 20,000 for 300D is ok lar. You will likely to just take a couple of thousand pics per year like 2000-3000 on avg unless you do weddings. Maybe you will whack more and drive all the way to Sungei Buloh just to take monitor lizards when the toy is new. Just change, i heard from my colleague that it's around 100+? There is a camera hospital.

I can easily take few thousand pictures in every 4months. My job requires me to take pictures. My mentor told me Nikon is good only when you get the high end cameras. U mean to replace the shutter cost $100++??? I saw on the net it is USD$300++. Not too sure. ( propbably got to replace in 2-3 yrs.)

Not really sure. I will ask for you how much to change the shutter as i am interested to know as well.

Tested the 300D today and found that indeed there is some space to the left and top frame, more to the top. Not really anything serious, but if you do tight framing on buildings, lanescapes and portraits, it may affect you.

Alright, it's a few hundreds to change the shutter. So it's not that cheap.

Anyway, this is for your reference. The Tamron i was talking about is $610. Remember to factor in the crop factor of 1.6X.
