Default 鸟嘴 - Aristochromis Christyi aka Malawi Hawk

Funny chinese name.

This is an interesting looking cichlid that has a compressed body shape and will developed into some impressive body coloration as it mature.

Anyway.. here is a juvenile fish that is still under stressed color.

Nice pics!

I kept these in the past. They have a very interesting hunting technique that they use on tank mates occasionally at feeding time, but without actually striking the fish. It's hard to describe but very unique. I'm not sure if yours are old enough to display the behaviour yet....

Thanks.

Do you mean the way it moves close to other fishes at tilted angle .. sort of like trying to size up the potential meal and hunt it down if they fit its mouth ?
