I had bichir that broke their finlet and grew back straight before.
But if its a genetic defect that cause the bent finlet, i doubt cutting the finlet will solve the problem. Previously, i was being offered a 12 inch endi that had the whole row of finlet being trimmed off. And i was assured by the seller that the finlet will grow back normally as the finlet was cut at a certain angle. End of the day, my friend bought the endi and the finlet was growing back nicely when i last saw it a few weeks ago. Anyway, the majority of the indo cb pbb have this bent finlets problem? |

Since you all are into talks about cutting the finlets, let me share my take on it. I have heard from auntie about people saying cutting it will make it grow straight, but I beg to differ.
The chances of the finlets growing back straight are very very slim, even if you know how to do it. Genetically if it is born this way then it will remain this way. I had seen a very nice GHXB at C328 having crooked fins at the tail fin and it has its tail fins cut after the deform parts. I saw the XB grow back the tail fins after 2 weeks and it did not grow back as nicely as before. For those who think they can or want to try, I would not recommend it. If it can be done, why didn't the breeder do it at the juvenile stage and sell it at a higher price when they recover from the crooked fins?? What we are getting here are way past juvenile stage liao... You paid for what you get.... Dun forget this....... |
