Water condition should be pretty bad. Check for nitrite and nitrate. Water change more often. Add salt and heater.

Normally I added 12-15 tea spoons each time i do WC about 20-30% from 5' x 2' x 1.5' tank size.
PH and Ammonia usually not that bad but i didnt check on nitrite and nitrate.

Do I need heater, i think my tank temp usually 27-30.

Ic. Add salt base on the instruction. Now can water change more often and more volume. Check on the nitrite and nitrate. Heater is to stabilize the temp. Can set 30 and see.

Will going get Heater later today and some Nitrite and Nitrate test kits.

For the gill curl, is there any medication?

Bro, the main culprit for curved gill: bad water in the tank.
