Default What tor/kelah/mahseer is this?

Here it is still in the bag? It was in a tank with N. Stracheyi and sold as "Golden Mahseer." It is only about 4."

That's what I was thinking. T. Putitora. I purchased in the us at a Lfs called About Fish. The owner had brought in a bunch of Asian fish.

Bro, for your reference, putitora ( 3" specimen ) have a sharp snout and longish body.

Although they flew in as Asian fishes but the origin of N. Stracheyi and Putitora are not the same.

N. Stracheyi - Thailand down to Malaysia.
T.Putitora - Himalaya to India.

Its best if you can get more info from the owner on this shipment.

I think u r right. It is not nearly as narrow and pointed as ur photos. Sad thing is the owner of the Lfs, doesn't really have much idea bout these fish either, especially since it was months ago when he shipped hem in. I'm gonna hav to rely on this community to come to the rescue. . Thank u for the clarifying photo.

Anyone know what I have?

My guess is either Tor Tambroides aka red kelah or it could be green kelah due to the fact that they have N. Stracheyi together, which are found together in the same region.
Anything below 6" is just a guess.

Thank you. It does look like tor tambroides. I suppose only time will tell. Til then, I'm gonna enjoy whatever this fish is. But if anyone else would like to take a shot at identifying it, I'll all ears.
