Tell you something bro...I think running 2.4 km in NS is just as tough as running a half marathon. why I say that? Becos 2.4 km is really about running for time to get gold and silver. U chiong to avoid going for RT. Before run, you still got to pass through 4 stations (my time). Shack liao lah before the run! But call me nuts lor, I do enjoy doing all those exercises during RT.

Even now mid 40, I still do some of these same exercises apart from just running. Not becos of wanting to keep fit. But just enjoy doing them.

Run sprints when above 40.
Ensures high basal metabolic rate.

Sprinters look like real men, long distance runners look like anorexic waifs.

Doing long distance will only result in energy expanded, extra food intake negates weight control.
Fact is, after exercise, sure hungry.

Tested few days back... had Tekka an hour before exercise.... not hungry at all
