I think the question should be
"Can we survive 5 years with them as majority"

Will Japan be wipeout after the Tsunami?

Don't think it will make any difference to me.

But I think it is the civil servants who may be in dilemma.

Hmm... Taiwan sees a total change of gov every so often, party A to party B and back to A, and then B. Same goes for Japan, America, etc.

Investors are not here purely because PAP exist but because the system/infrastructure is in place, tax is low (5yrs tax free for new investors?), reliable workforce, etc.

So, even if PAP lost 50% of the parliamentary seats, they still form the government (unless all opp parties forms a coalition and holds more than 50%).

M'sia is a very good example. After Dr M, Badawi didn't do a good job and Anwar managed to win such a huge margin that the current government WOKE UP! We can do the same, by having a lot more opposition to get the PAP to WAKE UP!

Using litigation to 'finish' an opposition is ancient, is stone age. They still want to persist, they will just erode their own integrity that they can't hold their heads high with pride and dignity, thus use e law.

Actually I don't think the opp will try to shake the current system if in power someday, it's suicide move. But what I want to see one day is a single strong opp team not those allied type where you need to merger to take majority share, everyone has their own agenda, never worked. Look at Malaysia as reference.

I was hoping to see the current party lose majority vote and let them wake up once and for all. Then let them buckle up and return them the power back the next election. At least there will be a precedent for them to know that nothing is permanent.

i don't have answer to it .... but i look at these ways

a) MNC that have good leadership or know how the internal of their company works usually make their companies outstanding.

So i say PAP core team has experiences managing singapore, which is a plus side. If the opposition becomes the core team (eg opposition becomes PM, etc), i am doubtful of their abilities.

b) The english broadcast of the recent debate shows how the articulation plus the debate. I can't imagine opposition to meet Global Leaders to represent Singapore (eg Mrs Chiam).

Opposition team need to have Core Leaders to differentitate the team. So many opposition parties and sometimes they fought internally until i m confused over their leadership and their themes.

I would say opposition need to have experiences managing their constituenties before managing a company like Singapore. I would not say PAP MP is the best, but i am confident of the PAP CORE team (the core cabinet).

in the history of elections, how many times have freak elections actually happen? Anyone knows?

Most bloodshed after election occurs when the ruling party refused to accept they have lost. Laurent dBagbo, Mugabee, etc.

Is the definition of a freak election one which the ruling party lost?

At least there are a few opposition candidates that speaks better, calm and composed. Eg Dr Vincent, Gerald Giam, Slyvia Lim, the leaders of a few parties, etc.

Verse, Pap's Tintin and the other Dr Puthu..., verse proven to fail Ruining Party's 2 ministers. Why can't let the Opportunity Parties try
