Nope, my tank is only partially filled, the water is about 2 inch away from the brim.

Wait wait wait. What do you intend to keep in the setup?
From a little sand and rock, canister and small skimmer, you are now considering overflow box, sump, chiller etc. where are you going to put all these equipment?
Will your tank be able to handle the load?
Many have advised against using this tank for SW but seems you intend to risk it.
Will you be able to sleep in peace with a niggling thought that your fully loaded tank might give way in the middle of the night? The SW will definitely mess up your flooring real bad too.
My post is cynical and not really nice to read. But SW setups are certainly not something to rush into without proper thought, planning and execution. Even then, chances of cockups are aplenty, old experienced hands included.
Like you said, Aim and Achieve.
I say, Save and Spend wisely. Penny pinching in the aquatic hobby usually don't end well.
