Even a PH of 8 is hardly caustic... it's the chlorine thats causing the burn.

And rays don't shed. They peel if the water conditions are not right.

What u can do now is empty abt half the water in your tank first.
Drip aged water (with anti chorine added} into the tank slowly.
Repeat this till the rays show signs of recovery.

Slime on ur rays after water change is the sign of PH burn.
i.e sudden change in ph in the tank.

Anti chlorine takes a while to work. Adding water directly into the tank depends on your rays resistance. The anti chlorine should be added into the water for a few hours first, before the water is added to the tank. I do up to 70% WC twice a week with no ill effects. 80% of the water is aged with anti chlorine.

hey all bros~ thanks for the advices given! so far the 2 main problems identified were ph burns and chlorine burns...ive to say that i dont see any slimes....pure peeling...so can i assume that it is then chlorine burn?

in that case...ive a problem because i dont really have the space to age a huge amount of water! bro lincolngoh...so pure water wont be enough to remove the chlorine if i were to add as i add the water? will stress guard or other anti chlorine do? if i really have to add water directly...

cheers bro~ really thanks so much for the help

anyway my mum spotted the male ray swimming today when i wasnt home....tml i shall start to feed and see if its eating...my worry is still the nxt water change!

my pH is 7.5, NH3/4 0, NO2 0, NO3 0. i slowly add 2 bowls of fishtank water half-hourly into the prawn bag for 2 hrs. the shedding is very minor. it's eating, but like very shy
