have rays meh? i usually see cheap fishes , pleco, crayfish, some flowerhorns in very little water that it lies on its side to breathe...

I think part of the reason is aros are cheap now. Some do not appreciate the hobby as anymore. And some smart alec teaching the wrong things also

It is just easier to use tanning lights. Algae can be controlled by FF or Plecos.
