HI Bro.
If you dont mind me asking, is there a specific reason on the epoxy paint? i m planning for a pond myself this year end or nxt year and i cant decide between epoxy paint or to tile up the tank. my concern is more on the durability. |

Hi... The proxy is mainly to serve 2 purposes:
1. Give a colour to the pond 2. Reduce the impact of cement on ph. |

should exclude tiles...
...not so much discolouration or deteriorating tile surface.... rather.. pointing & gaps will have to be touched-up/redone after a while I would personally go with epoxy.... .. MOST important is base-screed & drying time of the various coats |

I am planning a koi pond with 5 chamber filter as well, how do you decide the size of each of the chamber ? You mentioned the oyster shell chamber is the small one, so I am guessing chamber 1 - 20%, chamber 2 - 25%, Chamber 3 - 25%, Chamber 4 - 15%, chamber 5 - 15%

at least a size that a person can go in, bend down, and go some washing/maintenance. I compromise on my oyster chamber due to space constraint. In general, the first chamber should be smallest, as this is the chamber you will wash most frequent, as it serve as a mechanical filter. However, the size should still allow the water to flow through with ease, and able to let the dirt settle on the base. (if you understand what I meant! ) chamber 2 and 3 are mainly for your filter media, such as filter matt, etc. the chamber just before the pump, you will put oyster shell, coral chips, etc to buffer/polish the water. If you have the space, some will have 6-7 chambers! Then you can have a Jap matter filter as the chamber before the pump, to serve as final gate for mechanical filter. |
