Update
The female(9.5") is staying dark and the spots are slowly turning lighter and whiter. The male(8") has lightened up since putting him in an all sand tank and the spots are turning whiter each month. They are slow growing as the first pics where from May/2011. Still very happy with the outcome so far!

May I know what are you feeding them? The rays look well fed and being in a 450 gallon I find it strange that they're growing that slow since may 2011!!! Awesome development however.

Thanks! The female eats massivore, carnivore and frozen smelts, shrimp, etc. The male doesn't really eat pellets and only eats smelts, shrimp and other miscellaneous seafood. They are in a 520 gallon tank now.Female is growing faster then the male but that's probably due to it eating pellets.
