something could be wrong with that part of the head?
does it hit the same spot of the tank or different each time? you see if its different then the fish is sick, crazy or scare****, but if the same spot I donno. |

Thanks for all the informative and welcoming reply.
I changed to using the sump tank on the 12 Sept. The medias which i used are Bacteria House and Eheim substrate and CRs which i recycled from the Eheim Professional 2. Previously, i have been practising only changing a small amount of the water from the sump tank (not to disturb the water parameters too much) since the fish has been eating well. However, lately in a period of 1 month, the fish has inflicted injuries on his spoon head 3 times consecutively, i am suspecting something is wrong somewhere. It cant be coincidentally an insect has flown past the tank on these 3 occasions. That was when i started to measure the ammonia in the tank after getting scolded by my wife for doing nothing. Then i discovered the high ammonia level in the tank That's when i start to drain one pail of water from the tank as well as syphoning the shits at the bottom of the tank. Will this drastically affect the water parameters? Logically speaking, it will not affect the water, as the total % of water drained from the tank in a week is about 5% of the total volume in a 5 x 2.5 x 2 feet tank. I don't practice draining 10% of the water in the tank as i dont have so much aged water to replenish. Attached are the pictures of my sump tank setup. |
